From its inception, Game Over® has always believed that basketball is a gateway that can show youngsters that there are many more possibilities to be involved in the game besides playing. It has always been Game Over®’s call to do more than just sell products and teach basketball. “If all we do is teach basketball, then we have failed”
Basketball, and all sports, are a vehicle to catch the attention of boys and girls. It is our mission to then expose them to as many of the possible educational experiences that can lead to the exploration of potential professions that surrounds athletics.
While schools teach children the ABC’s and 1, 2, 3’s, there is so much more that is not taught. That is where Game Over® helps equal the playing field by exposing our community to programs that other communities already have due to various avenues of access.
As an athletic brand, Game Over® knows firsthand that it can make a societal impact while making a profit by being involved in the game through giving back with programs that enhance our community while producing products and providing services.
And this perspective is tied in with Game Over®’s teaching philosophy of the game of basketball.
There are far more professions off the courts and fields of athletics that are not only profitable, but are traditional life-long careers, such as coaches, teachers, entrepreneurs in products and services, management and administration, sport attorneys and agents, sport doctors, to name a few.
With that, Game Over® has initiated three programs that it brings to communities to open the minds of the young, to have them broaden their understanding of what is possible. Buckets-n-Bytes®, Buckets-n-Bots™, and Buckets-n-Biz™ are programs that Game Over® are original concepts that emphasize an educational component to basketball instruction.
Buckets-n-Bytes® is Game Over’s® trademarked computer programming introduction class. Students learn from instructors how to write codes for computer programs. Buckets-n-Bots™ and Buckets-n-Biz™ are also trademarks of Game Over®, where students learn about robotics in the former and basic business concepts and terms in the latter.
THE PROGRAMS
A session begins with traditional basketball instruction through drills – dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, etc. and competitive games for 45 to 60 minutes. It continues with one of the three programs by instructors that are experts in their field.
Buckets-n-Bytes® will have the students work on laptops utilizing programs that instructors will have the students learn how to create their own video game by choosing various codes that have attributes for actions by the characters in the game, such as movements of going left, right, jump, etc. There are other codes for collecting treasure, health for the character, speed-ups, etc. At completion students learn that they can become the creator, not just the player.
Buckets-n-Biz™ has students learn from entrepreneurs and other businesspersons about the concept of business, business terms, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Lesson plans, exercises, and experiences are created for the students to understand and apply the concepts they learn. While recent studies show that while 40% of the US population is minorities, except for Asian ownership, all other minority groups are underrepresented as business owners, compared to their population representation.

Buckets-n-Bots™ will have students experience the science and supporting disciplines associated with robotics. One of the growing fields of study has seen an exponential growth of programs in universities. With the promise of greater growth in the fields of manufacturing, healthcare, emergency response, security, and entertainment, robotics is an area of study that is seeing a continued growth in jobs. Instruction will be conducted by those in the field, teaching the basics of robotics and programming.
All Game Over® programs are designed as a doorway to education. The same skills and attitudes our coaches teach on the court of hard work, perseverance, use of imagination, being creative, success through repetition, game application, positive approach, and most of all, fun are emphasized by Buckets-n-Bytes®, Buckets-n-Biz™, and Buckets-n-Bots™ instructors.
