meet our CEO

For close to three decades Eric Hicks, CEO/Founder of a New York City based company called “GAME OVER” , has introduced “social entrepreneurship” to  thousands of youth through athletics, simply because he has been a fixture in the community.

As a Division 1 walk on basketball alumnus of St. Bonneventure’s University and a former student athlete at PSAL Truman High School, Hicks set out to create his own apparel company as a direct alternative to other sports brand. As he looked to change the Sports industry, especially for Blacks in America from just consumerism to “social entrepreneurism” he came up with the Game Over name. As he so often put it, “Game Over to Blacks not becoming owners in an industry where they help to make hundreds of billions for the sporting industry… that Game is Over!”

Through the years GAME OVER has become many things to many people, it has become a household name, especially for young people who grew up with and embraced the brand! Throughout the years, in addition to the Game Over apparel, they have created a number of products and services such as a unique Game Over basketball and football trophy.

This trophy is the first to have a Black man and woman on it as a symbol of Victory. A host of NBA players have embraced and received this trophy such as Rolando Blackman, Mark Jackson, Stephen Curry, Kemba Walker, Royal Ivy, Stephon Maurbury, Kenny Smith, Vince Carter, Walt Frazier, and many others to name a few. Game Over produced a weekly television show in conjunction with Madison Square Garden Networks call Shak’n, Last Man Standing One on One Tournament with MSG and McDonalds, sponsored the top basketball Summer leagues in NYC, recently rebuilding basketball courts throughout NYC, most notable Hick’s hometown Co-op City. Game Over established their very own basketball facility called the Brooklyn Stuy Dome and the creation of his latest venture, Tri-21 3on3 Tournament.

These young people watched Mr. Hicks, who was a resident of Co-op City in Bronx, with his partner Mark Wald challenged a multi-billion dollar sporting industry. They watched him come up with creative and innovative ideas that directly impacted their lives. They watch him bring top NBA basketball players back to the hood. During those years Game Over worked closely to create positive activities to improve the quality of life for student athletes throughout New York City.
